I was very excited when asked to write some words about how I felt about Pilates at BTC. I remember when I first went in to enquiry about Pilates I was so nervous as I felt over weight and very unfit, I wasn’t sure if everybody would be skinny, pretty and fit. I got to the entrance and nearly walked away but from the glass door I could see a smiling, welcoming face from one of the girls at reception. They gave me the confidence I needed to go inside, as soon as I did when I was greeted with a big welcome I knew I had came to the right place.

The very next day I started Pilates classes at BTC. A decision which I will never regret. Now three months later I come to classes as often as I can. The biggest change I have noticed is a decrease in my tummy weight. For years and years, I have never been able to wear a short top and jeans I have been used to baggy jumpers and loose track pants. Now I can wear a size 16 jeans, which for me is very exciting and I feel great.

Since starting Pilates 4 months ago I now have results I never thought possible. With help from BTC’s instructors and their great coaching and motivation I now have a better ‘zest’ for life.

Not only have my fitness and flexibility dramatically increased I now have energy throughout the day and a bounce in my walk. I remember when I used to hear my alarm of a morning and curse, I would press snooze button two or three times before finally rolling out of bed taking the covers with me. Since starting Pilates approximately 5 weeks ago I have more strength, not only in my core stomach muscles, but I also my upper body and legs. This excellent thing about this is have I have strength without the bulking muscles I would have got if I were doing large weights. It makes me feel energised and my posture is also benefiting from Pilates. I am sitting better at work and because of this I am not experiencing back soreness from not sitting properly at work all day. And of course my flexibility is increasing every lesson, it is a great feeling when I can move to the next level in certain exercises, you can really see improvements straight in your strength and flexibility within the first few lessons.
