Formulation of Korean Terms

Friday, August 21st, 2009

  • Korean Taekwondo terms are generally constructed as follows:

Part of body used + height + technique

e.g., knifehand low block

Han

Sonnal

Arae

Makki

Single

Knifehand

Low

Block

  • Common techniques are abbreviated, for example:

Body block technically is “anpalmok momtong makki”

but becomes “momtong makki”
